I had purchased the extended warranty for a couple of hundred of dollars after spending over $2,000.00 for the refrigerator. Appliance tech informed me of LG's numerous law suits. Purchased LG Kenmore Elite refrigerator in July or August of 2013. First a recall, then the ice maker, now it produces no cold air at all. They won't even provide me with a new compressor.They won't help period. Within 3 years the compressor went bad. The part arrived but I had to wait few days before it would be installed. Great after 2.5 I will have spent almost as much to fix it as it cost in the first place. Needless to say, I will never engage in a product or service from Sears. I am pretty sure I just got rooked on a lemon model and manufacturer compressor issue that has effected numerous consumers and should be a class action suit if not recalled and replaced. Called Sear Service and was told the soonest someone could come out was 5 days later! Challenge is that the soonest the repair people can come is in 16 days! What the heck do we do in-between. The second time in barely 3 months (Hurricane Ida and Nicholas). Not having any faith in Sears any longer, I had an Abt Service Tech come out, and the unit was diagnosed as having a sealed system compressor failure which would cost between $1200 to $1500 to repair! Neither company will stand behind there product. I believed that Kenmore was one of the best now I believe they re the worst. The compressor motor was very loud. $450 to get it fixed under warranty make sure you get the new compressor, the old models may last a week to a couple of years according to the tech. LG support would not help even though my warranty is good for 10 years. After 4 years the compressor gone bad. It is 8.5 years old. Lost couple hundred dollars in food and still without a refrigerator or an estimated time of repair at this point. The kicker was when I asked if they were replacing the compressor with a different compressor I was told it was the same compressor!!! Also, he informed me that the condenser was emitting a lot of heat. No longer under warranty. American Home Shield will not cover either because should be under warranty. Did research and troubleshooting online and most issues are the Linear Inverter Compressor or the PCB. This is disgraceful and we will never purchase anything from Sears again. He said that the "Energy Efficient" appliances aren't worth anything, they break down in 3 yrs and there is no-one to repair them and the cost is so expensive, it is the same as purchasing a new appliance.
